The School

The School of Technology (EST) started its activity in October 2004 and currently has an educational offer focused on Engineering, offering courses in Degree, Master and Professional Technicians in the areas of computer science, digital games, computer graphics , Electronics, automation, robotics, networking, machining and automotive mechanics.

In recent years EST has been focusing on digital entertainment as one of the key economic and academic opportunities in Europe and the world. As a result of this bet, in 2010 the first Digital Engineering Development in Digital Games Development course was created, as well as the construction of the first Portuguese Research Center entirely dedicated to digital games, the “Digital Games Lab”.

The EST is thus headquartered at the IPCA Campus in Barcelos, with a total area of more than two thousand square meters, equipped to the highest level, promoting a teaching applied to the practice and encouraging students to develop and get involved in projects Innovative research and development using the laboratories and equipment available. The result of this work are the prizes won by EST students in various national and international competitions.

With the entry into operation of the Professional Higher Technical Courses (TESP), EST expanded its educational offer to the cities of Braga (in 2014) and Guimarães (in 2015). These new courses have also made it possible to invest in other areas, such as technical drawing, machining and motor mechanics.

Parallel to the teaching activity, the EST has organized events to promote the school, namely iDroneCup, which this year is Idrone Experience, JobShop, Open EST, among others, aimed at its students and the surrounding educational community.

The dissemination of the projects developed by students and professors is also done through the meetings of the Advisory Committee, an event that brings together, every year, the largest companies in the sectors of EST performance.

The Direction of the EST welcomes all its academic community, with special respect to its teachers, students and graduates, who, with their spirit of sacrifice and ambition, contribute daily to the name and success of this School.
